ROMANOS | “Advances and Innovations in Ridge Augmentation: Aesthetics and Clinical Considerations” There is no doubt that augmentative procedures are common in the daily practice. For the narrow alveolar ridge, there are various alveolar extension plastic procedures allowing increase the width of the ridge with many limitations. However, augmentative procedures are successful and dependent on different host response and definitely the surgical approach. The presenter will demonstrate different concepts of therapy and will address the biological concepts besides the management of complications. The surgical steps and the requirements for the success are here discussed presenting also the opportunity of treatment using different loading protocols. The management of the insufficient width as well as the increase in the height in the posterior and anterior parts of the jaws will be demonstrated. Special focus will be the vertical augmentation technique in order to have a good and predictable result. |

Three different clinical scenarios will be described: 1. Clinical cases were alveolar bone and adjacent bone peaks are intact. 2. Clinical cases were alveolar bone is compromised but adjacent bone peaks are intact. 3. Clinical cases were alveolar bone and adjacent bone peaks are both compromised. ___ Different treatment options will be described and pros and cons of each therapeutic line will be discussed. The lecture will focus on hard and soft tissue management both surgical and orthodontical, type of graft, immediate vs delayed placement, implant selection and timing and characteristics of provisionalization. Clinical experience and evidence based decision will be combined in order to give to the clinician practical guidelines to achieve predictable results. |

| Friday,January 12, 2024 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. CDE Theatre Dr. Michael SONICK | “Implant Treatment in the Esthetic Zone” The maxillary anterior dental implant is perhaps the most challenging for the clinician. Knowledge of esthetics, bone grafting, gingival grafting and precise implant placement is essential to achieve an implant restoration indistinguishable from the natural dentition. In modern implant dentistry, mere osseointegration is not enough. We tolerate no less than perfection. Thus the position that creates the most beautiful and functional prosthesis dictates the location of the implant, not the ridge morphology. Today, we simply grow bone where we desire it. Techniques that are now available to augment hard and soft tissue at the various phases of treatment will be shown. Techniques will include particulate bone grafting, guided bone regeneration with bio-absorbable and non-resorbable membranes and the use of the osteotomes and ridge expanders. Soft tissue procedures to assure optimal esthetic reconstruction before implant placement, at implant placement, at second stage surgery and after second stage surgery will also be demonstrated. These include flap designs to optimize ideal soft tissue profiles, three dimensional connective tissue grafting, the use of number of second stage surgical flap designs. The requirements and limitation of papilla regeneration between implants, implants and natural teeth, and implants and pontics will be shown. The sequence and timing of implant placement and regeneration will vary depending on the situation. Implant placement may be immediate or delayed up to nine months depending on the quality and quantity of bone. The advantages and disadvantages of each of the treatment modalities will also be discussed. Four grafting timing possibilities will be discussed: 1) at the time of extraction (site preservation); 2) post extraction (ridge augmentation); 3) simultaneous with extraction and implant placement (Immediate implantation) and 4) post extraction with simultaneous implantation and ridge augmentation (Peri-implant GBR). ___ Course Objectives: • Treatment planning for ideal esthetics • Gingival augmentation options – grafts and surgical design • Philosophy of bone regeneration • When to bone graft and with what • Treatment sequencingt • Flap designs • Sequencing treatment and provisionalization • Socket preservation techniques • Second stage surgical techniques • Reduction of surgical complications |

| Wednesday, january 17, 2024 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. CDE Theatre  Dr. Abd Elsalam ASKARY | “Vestibular Socket Therapy” This presentation describes a novel clinical protocol to treat wide verities of fresh extraction sites (thin, or deficient labial plate of bone, severely compromised, actively infected) with immediate implant placement , the protocol is designed to repair socket osseous environment and place an immediate implant at the same surgical setting thus providing immediacy and predictable outcome. The presentation will also feature a modification to Elian’s socket classification to identify the various socket conditions more accurately, and a 6 days protocol to eliminate preexisting active socket infection. This presentation will highlight the available published studies using the VST protocol and focus on the long term (two years) follow up.
